Welcome, strangers!

My name is Robert Potter, and this is Utopian Tendencies. The launch of this website coincides with the release of my first book, The Hermit, a cerebral tale of an archaeologist venturing to a mysterious island to discover hidden secrets about the world and about himself.

It took a while to get to this point, but here we are at last. Many times, I wasn’t sure I’d finish and doubted my capabilities throughout the process. Pretty much the same story that every writer has gone through. Nevertheless, I made it, I think, through sheer force of knowing I would not be able to live down the embarrassment if I failed or gave up. And, of course, I had the help and encouragement of many people around me, too.

This is the place where you can find updates on the book as well as any future writing projects. Additionally, I may sneak in a blog post or two about whatever is on my mind if I need a place to vent.
